• The last week note I wrote was on the first of August, and now it’s the last day of August! I guess this will be a month note for August.

  • We just got home from Vancouver yesterday. I feel a bit jet lagged because I couldn’t sleep until 3AM – if we were still on PST that’d have been an amazing time to sleep. Unfortunately, we’re back on EST. I’m feeling uncomfortable being back at our apartment. I really miss Vancouver and my friends.

  • The entire month was very eventful. We had something planned for all the weekends and most weekdays. I met up and caught up with multiple friend groups to do outdoor activities.

  • Jae and I hiked up Stawamus Chief in Squamish, North Vancouver. It was around 1 hour away from downtown Vancouver. The hike was brutal but very fulfilling especially at the peak and when we finished. Ontario is very flat compared to British Columbia. The highest peak in Ontario is Ishpatina Ridge at 693 meters above sea level while the highest in BC is Mount Robson at… 3,954 meters. Later in the month, my friends and I did another hike up St. Marks Summit, near Cypress Provincial Park. That hike was more of a slow burn compared to the steep uphill climb of Stawamus Chief. Overall, the views weren’t as amazing as they could have been because of the haze from the forest fires in Alberta – but they were beautiful nonetheless.

  • The COVID situation in Vancouver was alright (though it’s taking a turn for the worse now). Masks were optional indoors. I can’t take risks like that so we ended up always wearing marks, even at the gym. I gotta admit that it was mighty uncomfortable seeing maskless people being in close quarters to one another.

  • I love biking! We biked around the seawall and Stanley Park. There weren’t a lot of uphills, which was why I enjoyed it. We found a nice (and affordable) bike rental which offered well-maintained bikes (according to my bike-expert friend). The bikes were comfortable and smooth to ride. I’ve only ridden old, second-hand bikes in my life, so I really appreciated the upgrade.

  • We didn’t prioritize training that much the entire month because we were at a new gym that didn’t have the same machines. I’ve made the executive decision to re-start the training cycle we are starting this week. I feel proud that I’m not stressing about it too much. Plus, we walked so much every day that I don’t feel that I’m completely inactive.

  • I’ve had so much sushi that I (can’t believe I’m saying this) can’t stand sushi anymore.
